Iguanodon was a large, plant eating dinosaur of the early Cretaceous period. Iguanodon weighed around 3 tonnes, and was around 10 meters (33 ft.) in length. Iguanodon was discovered by English doctor and dinosaur expert Dr Gideon Mantell. Mantell first thought that the Iguanodon tooth came from a large crocodile type animal. Colorful illustrations and simple text offers the perfect introduction to the prehistoric world for even the youngest dinosaur hunter. For size reference this books is the size of a post it note (3" x 3"). The Iguanodon was a bird-footed plant eater, with a mass of at least three tons, measuring 33 feet from its nose to the end of a long horizontal tail. Its estimated top speed was about 15 mph. It was one of these four-footed dinosaurs which could get up on their hind legs when they needed to. This made the species a “missing link” of sorts.
